Col. Katabazi Urges Student Leaders to Avoid Politics of Deceit

The Internal Security Organisation (ISO) Deputy Director General Col. Emmy Katabazi has urged students to avoid getting involved in politics of deceit but to instead embrace a path focused on integrity and success.

Col. Katabazi made the call on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, while addressing leaders of all universities in Uganda during a patriotism training course intended to inculcate a feeling of responsibility, unity, and leadership among Uganda’s future leaders.

The course that started on Friday, January 03, 2025, at Nkumba University Entebbe was attended by 735 student leaders from all universities across the country, including guild presidents, vice guild presidents, speakers, GRCs, and cabinet members.

“The politics of Deceit is not just about what you see on the surface; it’s about understanding the undercurrents that shape national policy, security, and governance,” Col. Katabazi stated.

He urged them to embrace leadership roles not for personal gain but for the collective advancement of their communities and the country at large.

“Patriotism is not just a feeling; it is a commitment to actions that uplift our nation,” Col. Katabazi emphasized.

Additionally, the ISO Deputy Director General advised students to study beyond what is being taught in schools to equip themselves with more valuable knowledge.

He emphasized the importance of self-driven learning as a cornerstone for Uganda’s youth to actively participate in nation-building—a vision exemplified by influential figures like him through lectures that champion patriotism and education.

He further urged the Student leaders to encourage people in their villages to adopt the parish development model (PDM), stating that PDM holds significant potential to transform lives, but that this potential can only be realized through collective integrity and a shared commitment to the program’s values.

“My call to you is to engage with leaders in your villages to embrace parish development model with the help of the knowledge acquired as a way of combating poverty in the country,” Col. Katabazi urged students.

He further emphasized the need for transparency and integrity in the execution of the model adding, “This money is meant to uplift your families from poverty.”
