CECAFA U18: Uganda Thumps Burundi in a 7-0 thriller to Top the Table

On Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at the Azam Complex in Chamazi, Uganda’s U18 Women’s football team defeated Burundi 7-0 in the ongoing Council of East and Central Africa Football Association (CECAFA) U18 women’s Championship games.

Kamiyat Naigaga and Shamsha Najjuma registered a brace, while Agnes Nabukenya, Phionah Nabulima and Allen Nassazi each scored a goal to give Uganda victory.

The first goal of the game came in the 5th minute, the second was in the 32nd minute, and the other 5 goals were in the second half of the game.

The win puts Uganda on top of the table, level with Tanzania; however, Uganda has a better goal difference.

The winner of the match between Uganda and Tanzania on Friday, August 4, 2023, will be declared the CECAFA U18 Women Championship champion, but a draw will see Uganda lift the trophy.

Uganda previously beat Ethiopia 1-0 and Zanzibar 3-0. Uganda has not conceded a goal or registered a draw.
