The Busoga Twegaite International Convention, currently underway in Dallas, Texas, has shined a spotlight on the rich cultural heritage and tourism potential of Busoga Kingdom.
The event, which runs from May 24 at the Sheraton Dallas Hotel by the Galleria, has attracted a distinguished guest list, including the Kyabazinga of Busoga, His Highness Wilberforce Gabula Nadiope, who is presiding over the proceedings.
Former Speaker of Parliament, Rebecca Kadaga, one of the founders of Busoga Twegaite, is also in attendance, along with Owek. Hellen Namutamba, the Busoga Minister of Tourism and Heritage. Their presence underscores the importance of the convention in promoting Busoga’s cultural heritage and tourism initiatives.
During an interview, Hon. Kadaga explained that the convention serves as a platform for Busoga to showcase its unique cultural offerings and explore ways to boost tourism in the region. She added that with Kyabazinga’s leadership and the participation of key government officials and tourism stakeholders, the event aims to develop strategies that will attract more visitors to Busoga Kingdom and the eastern part of the country while preserving its rich cultural legacy.
As the Busoga Twegaite Convention continues, it is expected to generate momentum for the development of Busoga’s tourism sector and strengthen the bonds between the Busoga community in the diaspora and their homeland.
