Brig. Gen. Henry Isoke, the Head of the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, has urged fellow heads of departments in the unit not to be too bureaucratic during engagements with stakeholders.
He made these remarks on November 29, 2023, during a joint breakfast meeting with proprietors and editors of media houses with the anti-corruption agencies.
“Do not be too bureaucratic in engagements but rather adopt a fast and rapid approach,” Brig. Gen. Isoke said.
The meeting was part of the commemorative activities ahead of International Anti-Corruption Day 2023 under the theme “Strengthening Partnerships in the War against Corruption.”
The anti-corruption boss expressed gratitude to the media for their assistance in the fight against corruption, stating that the media plays a critical role in exposing the corrupt, which prevents impunity and promotes accountability.
The United Nations Convention against Corruption was approved on October 31, 2003. Since then, there has been an annual celebration of International Anti-Corruption Day on December 9 to increase public awareness of anti-corruption issues.
