John “Mwesigwa Robin” Nagenda, the Senior Presidential Advisor on Media and Public Relations, has passed on at the age of 84.
According to the Minister in charge of the Presidency, Milly Babalanda, Nagenda passed on from Medipal Hospital Kampala on March 4, 2023.
“I regret to announce the passing on of Senior Presidential Advisor on Media Matters, Mzee John Nagenda, who has passed on at Medipal in Kampala,” Babalanda announced.
She described Nagenda as a unique, principled, and knowledgeable patriot whose services will be dearly missed.
Nagenda had been admitted to the hospital for three months battling a yet-to-be-identified illness.
Born on April 25, 1938, Nagenda is the son of William Kyanjo Nagenda and Sala Maliamu Bakaluba.
He is a former Rwandan-born Ugandan cricketer who played one One Day International (ODI) in the 1975 World Cup for East Africa.
He appeared in one first-class cricket match in England in 1975 and played for Uganda before he engaged himself in fiction and poetry writing in the 1960s.
John Nagenda served as a senior media advisor to President Museveni for decades.
