Bobi Wine’s Private Guards Foil Mpuuga’s Participation in Nationwide Tour

The National Unity Platform’s (NUP) Mathias Mpuuga, also the Leader of the Opposition in Parliament, has failed to freely engage in the ongoing party nationwide tour over threats emanating from the party president’s private guards.

The guards are furious about the suspicion that he (Mpuuga) is an agent of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) who delivers their secrets to the state house.

On Tuesday, September 5, 2023, during the party tour in Busia, Mulondo Hassan, alias NUPIAN, privately stated that they do not want to see Mpuuga following them because he is already ‘painted yellow’.

“Let me tell you, it’s written that a man’s enemies will be those of his household. Mpuuga is red on the outside, but on the inside, he is yellow. I am sure he knows that he is not genuine with the party; that’s why he is not free with us,” Mulondo said.

Mulondo further revealed that Mpuuga has also inaugurated a group of what he termed rebel Members of Parliament whose main aim is to split the NUP party just like their sister party, FDC, adding that it is why most of the party MPs did not go for the nationwide tour.

In contrast, Mpuuga tweeted yesterday, “The massive show of support in the west, Mayuge and Busia has ashamed ‘the NUP is only in Buganda Propagandists’. Tubalinze e Luweero”.

Abdul Wasswa Mubiru, alias Mulongo wa Bobi Gud Boy, says that Mpuuga has consistently abandoned important party programmes, a sign that he does not have the party at heart.

According to Mubiru, as LOP, Mpuuga would be leading the rest in such remarkable party programmes, but to his surprise, Mpuuga has not participated in the nationwide tour, adding that it was the same with the 3rd NUP Diaspora Convention of the USA in Washington, DC.

However, one NUP MP who preferred anonymity due to numerous threats from Bobiwine’s guards stated that they have numerous grievances with the party president, citing imposed party payment, prioritising tours over sick Ssegirinya’s pleas for help, and linking the party to the LGBTQ community, which they have consistently opposed.

Dr. Patrick Wakida, a political analyst, has stated that NUP is headed for the formation of two power factions, one led by Mathias Mpuuga and the other by Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu.

Kyagulanyi, who is currently holding tours in the eastern part of Uganda, is expected in Mbale today, Wednesday, September 6.
