Barbie Kyagulanyi, the wife of Bobi Wine, has reportedly taken steps to deal with whispers about her husband’s alleged connection with Salim Sultan Tana. Instead of confronting the rumors head-on, Barbie decided to adopt a strategic approach to protect her marriage.
Sources close to Barbie suggest she has been working quietly to undermine Sultan’s chances in the political arena, especially after rumors about Bobi Wine’s involvement with Sultana began to circulate. In an effort to distance her husband from the gossip, Barbie sought the help of a friend, a campaign manager David Musiri, who also heads the National Unity Platform (NUP) institutions.
According to an insider, Barbie provided financial support to Musiri with a clear mission.
“She wanted to make sure Sultana did not get elected as an MP. Her goal was to keep that woman far away from her husband as quickly as possible,” he said.
Musiri took on the task with caution. He carefully crafted a plan to campaign against Sultan without raising suspicions among his team. He rallied a group of young supporters to back an independent candidate named Grace in the Kisoro by-election.
“During the day, he acted like he supported Sultan. But at night, he was out with his team, campaigning for Grace Akifeza,” Kamukama explained. Musiri also advised his recruits to persuade anyone who opposed Grace to waste their votes instead.
The tactic was simple yet effective. Many voters ended up casting wasted votes, contributing to Sultan’s defeat at the polls.
“Barbie injected a lot of money into this campaign against Sultana, and it showed,” Kamukama noted.
This clever maneuvering illustrates just how far some people will go to safeguard their relationships, revealing the complexities of mixing personal issues and politics. Barbie’s actions remind us that behind closed doors, personal lives, and political ambitions often intertwine in unexpected ways.
