According to the Guardian Newspaper USA, European leaders have a wide agenda to maintain control of the economic resources of the entire Africa.
In one email dated April 2, 2011 Sidney Blumenthal, then an aide to Hillary Clinton, exposed to the world the principal reasons, why USA attacked Libya and planned to overthrow Muammar Gaddafi.
He reported that Gaddafi’s Government holds 143 tons of gold, 355 tones of silver that was intended to be used to establish a pan-African currency, the same Mechanisms of Neo-Colonialism tactic has been employed in several African countries with the same ultimate objective.
Early last month during the past tumultuous days, Sudan President Omar- al -Bashir was toppled by his own military agents with odds indicating that they are working for the foreign interests following months of protests in the capital Khartoum. This has since prompted a number of alarmist Ugandans especially from the opposition to insinuate that the same could soon happen in Uganda.
For starters, that is what is termed as wishful thinking and it can never happen here. In December last year, a series of sporadic demonstrations led by Nubian queen also dubbed as “Kandaka”, broke out in major cities in Sudan and these were mainly as a result of shortage of basic commodities, sky rocketing prices of wheat and this meant the price of bread too increased. This later plunged Sudan into a worst ever economic crisis.
By all accounts, Sudanese citizen’s depend much on bread as their staple food and uncontrolled slight increase of prices meant they had to pour to the streets to protest against it unlike in Uganda which is blessed with friendly climate, an agricultural country, food is available and affordable at lower price and even if it increases, the prices don’t skyrocket, the way it happened in Bashir’s Sudan, Tunisia and Egypt. Besides, Uganda’s culture is so diverse that they don’t even depend on the same food. The case of Uganda is going to be unique that no method can be imported to overthrow the Government.
The devaluation of Sudan’s local currency last year meant wildly fluctuating exchange rates whereas the cash in circulation had to be reduced in a bid to curb inflation. On the other side, long queues for basic goods like petrol, bread and money from ATMs meant people had to get fed up with the situation. Therefore unlike Sudan, the situation in Khartoum is far from getting to Uganda and the status quo for President Yoweri Museveni’s style of governance will remain a little longer.
President Museveni has always improved the citizen’s welfare by targeting the rural women and youths who are the majority voters. He has created jobs for them, has supported them. His intervention targets women and youth in the list of beneficiaries, women and youth are part of his Government project. When you go to every sector women and youths are benefiting from government from special grants and they are able to create their own way of living, sustain their families and these are voters.
The Sudan security forces using live ammunition to disperse the protests led to the deaths of many, injuring others which amplified anger among the population was a wrong gesture for Bashir regime.
Locally given the symbiotic relationship between people and the UPDF army, it is evident that the pro-people army supports the core principles of Democracy, rule of law in their operations, Pan-Africanism, Socio-economic Transformation and Patriotism; they will not hesitate to apologize to the “Wanainchi” when some operational mistakes have gone wrong.
On the other hand Ugandans are slowly getting fed up with fruitless protests which culminate into the destruction of their property especially businesses at the expense of benefiting a few political opportunists who want to safeguard their own selfish interests and serving imperialists.
This has been witnessed to the low turn up of numerous protests organized by opposition in the city.
What Ugandans want is good service and as long as it still exists demonstrations and all efforts to suffocate peace will not gain massive support in this capitalistic oriented country where people care about their hard earned wealth.
