The Bukoto County MP, Ronald Evans Kanyike, has revealed plans to knife Robert Kyagulanyi, aka Bobi Wine, from being in the top leadership of the National Unity Platform party.
MP Kanyike, a prominent NUP member, says the same plan will also see NUP fronting another senior and prominent member as the 2026 presidential flag bearer for the party.
He adds that as of now, a section of NUP’s top managers have concluded plans to achieve Kyagulani’s removal and subsequent replacement.
“Most people don’t know this, but in NUP, there is someone who wants the presidential party flag come 2026, and he is supported by the majority,” revealed MP Kanyike.
According to Kanyike, Bobi Wine’s leadership is lacking, narrow and full of family affairs, a move that has continued to frustrate NUP’s capability to overthrow the NRM regime.
“He lost track of what it is that makes a party strong. He has failed to completely organize the party structures from the grassroots. “The NUP source revealed that he is only interested in things that keep him on social media and not what grows the party
We have kept on saying we don’t have the liberty to organize gatherings, but do we even have the structures to organize? We have taken campaigns to burial and wedding ceremonies where we ride on sympathy instead of reality, and that is why some party members are secretly grooming another candidate, said MP Kanyike.
Another bitter NUP stalwart revealed that many party members are not comfortable with the direction the party has taken.
“Bobi Wine spends time outside Uganda and enjoys the limelight with the white man, who will not vote for him,” the bitter NUP supporter said.
