Government Secondary School teachers in Sheema District have today on 26th October 2022, stormed the municipality offices of Sheema District  to demand for an explanation over delay in payment of September salaries.

According to teachers, the Ministry of Finance disbursed insufficient funds for the month of September which left some government employees not catered for.

“The insufficient funds disbursed by the Finance Ministry to various districts did not cater for all categories of Government workers. So we are among those who have not been paid salary arrears for the month of September,” the teachers said.

The Chief Administrative Officer, Top Kikwaya who has assumed office for only one week and the Chairperson LCV Jemima Buhanda later met with the teachers at the district chambers. They promised to look into the issue and give them response by Friday which teachers agreed to.

In August this year, Government disbursed funds to various districts across the country to cater for wages of civil servants for the first quarter of the new financial year 2022/23.
