Gov’t delivers 100 computers to Public universities

The government through Uganda communication Commission has allocated some 100 computers to Ministry of Education.

This is meant to boost digitalization in public universities across the country and the education sector.

In 2022/2023 financial year, government will install last mile connectivity broadband infrastructure to ensure that schools, institutions of higher learning and other essential services are connected to internet.

“I have received 100 computers from Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) to support the digitalization of education services in public universities. I have handed these over to the Vice-Chancellors of the benefitting public universities, “First lady, also the Minister of education, Janet Katah Museveni said on Tuesday after receiving and handing the machines to beneficiaries.

This aims at promoting online learning and engagement between learners and lecturers as some students cannot attend class in physical state.

According to the Ministry of ICT, digitalization makes it easy to gather specific feedback on textbooks and when using e-books in class, teachers and publishers can collect automated feedback on passages that are hard to understand.

The Ministry would like to supply the universities will all their needs, but it still has limitations. I’m grateful to the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance and the Uganda Communications Commission for supporting the digital agenda for the Education and Sports sector, Minister said.

Some of the Public Universities to receive the computers include, Busitema, Gulu,Lira, Kyambogo,Muni, Makerere, Lira,Soroti and, Mbarara University of Science and Technology.
