Football coach Pius Ngabo will be John ‘Ayala’ Luyinda’s assistant at Uganda Premier League side Wakiso Giants FC.

It had earlier been reported that Abdallah Mubiru had agreed to become Wakiso’s head coach with Luyinda his deputy.

However, the latest indicates that Mubiru is not in the picture and it is Luyinda to take over from Alex Gitta at Kabaka Kyabaggu.

Luyinda has agreed to a two-year contract with the Purple Sharks and he will be deputised by Ngabo.

Former Police goalkeeping coach Richard Kansole will be the custodians’ coach at Wakiso.

Luyinda, Ngabo, and Kansole will be unveiled on Monday, June 27 ahead of the new 2022/23 season.

Luyinda was Mubiru’s assistant at Police FC before he replaced the latter on an interim basis but could not save the Cops from relegation.

He also had stints at KCCA FC and Vipers SC serving in the capacity of assistant coach at both clubs.

On the other hand, it will be Ngabo’s second stint at Wakiso having been deputy to Douglas Bamweyana.

He was also an assistant coach at Police under Mubiru and also had a stint at Express FC.

Wakiso finished seventh on the 16-team SUPL log with 39 points in the 2021/22 season and they will be hoping to better that position under Luyinda and Ngabo.
