Last month, our media across the country was flooded with updates on the Omoro County by- election in which the National Unity Platform was trounced by the NRM candidate.

It should also be recalled that around this same period, we lost two NUP supporters identified as Denis Waiswa, former MP contestant for Iganga municipality and Yakub Kiggundu from Kawempe dead passed on during a fatal accident while traveling to support their candidate in Omoro County by-election.

Monica Apolot, 63 year old, also a resident of Aterai Village, South Division in Kumi Municipality sustained severe injuries from the incident.

Apolot who was moving to trade her pancake within the trading center near her home was randomly knocked and severely injured when the vehicle being driven by the NUP leaders had lost control and overturned.

She said, NUP authority had promised to extend unspecified financial support to pay medical bill and sustain her family during this moment.

Apolot was making a daily earning where she uses it to pay her children’s school fees but to date, she has remained incapacitated and out of her daily earning.

“I’m now down, I can’t do this same business again yet it’s what have been using to earn a living from. NUP has since remained silent and they have never supported me at all,” Apolot said.

She has since remained at Ongino hospital receiving medical treatment.

Apolot claimed that the pledges were directly made to her by Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine while visiting some NUP supporters.

“When they came to pick their members from here, NUP team from Kampala ignored my situations yet I’m suffering and rotting. They don’t to attend to my conditions at all. I ask police and government to help me get justice from NUP,” Apolot said.

Bob wine, the NUP leader during the burial of Denis Waiswa at Namwenda Kamuli district pledged to donate the sum of Ugx2.5M to support the family but the money is yet to be delivered.

Ismail Mudoga, the deceased a cousin brother they have since visited NUP headquarters to remind them about the pledge but proved futile.

“We request anyone who can convince Bob wine to fulfill his promise to help us because  since my brother died, the situation at home is not okay and we request Ugandans who can support us financially to rescue our family because we a dying of hunger,” Mudoga said.
