Kyabazinga Tips Mwiri College Old Boys On Commercial Farming

The Kyabazinga of Busonga His Highness, William Gabula Nadiope IV has promised to work hand in hand with the Mwiri College old boys through the association in continuing to plant more trees around the college and conserving the environment.

Gabula Nadiope IV was on Saturday April 16, 2022 meeting and hosting the old boys from Busoga College Mwiri who are under the Mwiri Old Boys Association (MOBA) at his Budhumbula Palace in Kamuli District.

The Kyabazinga who was accompanied by his brother, Prince Arnold Nadiope welcomed the old boys who were led by Samson Kakoma Kakosi and Kawuzi Waiswa Emmanuel, an Agriculturalist working with Mayuge District Local Government.

His Royal Highness the King led the Old boys in touring his demonstrational farm located at Budhumbula in Kamuli District such that they get acquainted with the modern technologies of farming which they believe will replicate in their respective communities.

The Monarch encouraged the old boys to engage in profit making commercial farming in order to improve on their livelihoods, and ensure that there is plenty of food in Busoga with an aim of eradicating hunger and poverty in homes.

Mwiri Old Boys Association (MOBA) was founded in 2011with a Vision of creating a continued community and relationship between the college and its alumni, with a mission of developing a sense of community among the alumni, and to promote the lifelong personal, educational and professional growth of alumni and the students of the college.

The Kyabazinga of Busoga Kingdom happens to be the patron of Mwiri Old Boys Association and at the same time, an old boy of Busoga College Mwiri. He entered Busoga College Mwiri for his O-level in 2002 up to 2005.

During his interaction with the old boys after the farm tour, Kyabazinga and his guests reminded themselves and shared memories about Mwiri of their time, cracking jokes that they used to make during their school time, and drawing smiles as well as laughters on the King’s face.

Kawuzi also was delighted to see the development strides Busoga College Mwiri has taken in the education sector, but also expressed his disappointment towards the deteriorating academic performance of the college.

Kawuzi also said that as a way of managing and curbing environmental degradation which he said was high around the school, they have so far planted 700 tree seedlings at the college.

He added that as a way of boosting solidarity that is of purpose, they have a SACCO which he requested the Kyabazinga to be a member.
