Police have kickstarted a special probe to ascertain the alleged poisoning claim as the possible cause of death of the former Speaker, late Jacob Oulanyah.

During the weekly press briefing held in Kampala, Police spokesperson, Fred Enanga said they intend to summon the National Unity Platform (NUP) leader, Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine, and Dokolo South MP Felix Okot Ogong.

Others to be summoned include Kilak South MP Gilbert Olanya, Northern Uganda based musician Bosmic Otim, bloggers and Oulanyah’s father Nathan Okori.

Otim, a local musician was however seen posing with AK 47 firearm in a video clip that went viral on the social media where he claimed that Oulanyah pike any other sons of Athe choli tribal group holding key positions in government had been killed.

Enanga adds that Minister for ICT and national guidance, Chris Baryomunsi, the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) vice chairman for central Uganda, Godfrey Kiwanda, shall also be invited to interact with the detectives over the claim.

He says a file of offensive communication is being prepared at CID headquarters in Kibuli, Kampala.

“From the medical records we have obtained, there was no presence of poison in his (Oulanyah’s) blood system. We want them to provide us with pieces of evidence,” Enanga said.

NUP leader Bobi Wine recently said the death of Oulanyah should be investigated by the police.

Last Tuesday, Health Minister, Dr jane Aceng told Parliament that Oulanyah died as a result of multiple organ failures from cancer.

The deceased was laid to rest last Friday at his ancestral home at Lalogi village in Omoro district.
