The joint Security agencies have confirmed that three suspected suicide bombers died in the twin blasts that rocked Kampala city on Tuesday.
Another only identified as Mozey was shot and injured by police during the chase.
Police spokesperson, Fred Enanga said security has retrieved and released CCTV footage clearly showing how the attackers conducted the suicide bombing.
Security says the first bomb blast occurred right near the checkpoint at the Central Police Station-Kampala at exactly 10:03 am.
According to CCTV footage, a male adult wearing a black jacket carrying a black pack detonated the bomb immediately after he approached parked police vehicles. The attacker died instantly.
Another blast occurred along Parliament Avenue near Jubilee Insurance at exactly 10:06 am where two male adults disguised as boda-boda riders detonated the bomb and which also killed them instantly.
“Although our Counter Terrorism task team responded immediately, we (security) managed to chase another suspected suicide bomber up to around Wandegeya, shot him in the chest and disabled. We went and searched his home in Nabweru, Nansana Municipality and recovered unexploded suicide bomb jacket from his house,” Enanga told media.
Police further noted that three civilians also died while some 33 people including police officers sustained injuries from the attack.
Bomb squad from the police also managed to detonate a suspected abandoned bomb at a roadside electricity transformer near Kooki towers.
The police mouthpiece called for calm and vigilance among the community.
Enanga adds, security has in the recent past neutralized and countered some 150 possible terror attacks.
He asked Ugandans to be on high alert, and called for popular vigilance among the community amidst the increasing terrorism acts.
Security attributed the current suicide bombing in Uganda to ADF rebel group whose interest is to cause insecurity in Uganda.
