President Yoweri Museveni has announced more measures to help the government curb the spread and impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on Uganda. The measures in place have increased restrictions on movement of persons especially in private vehicles across the country and a night time curfew to minimize criminal activities in this period.

The measures have been welcomed widely and positively by many Ugandans and this is very important as such stringent policies require mass reception and acceptance to succeed.

Many governments worldwide have been caught off guard by this pandemic and the blame has been put on failure to institute decisively measures to limit interaction of persons in what is termed as social distancing.

However for Uganda’s case, many of the cases reported so far have been under institutional quarantine and this has given us the chance to react and stay on top of the issue.

Whereas these measures are coming at high economic cost for the country, it is important that we remain with the ability to rebuild and resume activities after this has past whenever that may be.
