General Muhoozi Has Equal Rights as Every Other Ugandan.

Senior Presidential Advisor on Special Operations, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba has come under attack from a section of social media commentators after he expressed gratitude to what he called his “supporters” in an appreciation tweet.

Muhoozi also followed up with a tweet hinting at the good relationship he had in the past with current people leader, Bobi Wine and pointed at talks with the radical musician to help solve the current impasse between the group and security.

Most of the reaction towards him seemed to be aimed at the person of the General, being the first son to the President of Uganda. Muhoozi didn’t choose to be born as a first son and that fact does not deter him from having the same rights as any other Ugandan. Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya is a son to former President, Jomo Kenyatta and so many such cases are littered around the world.

More lose talk has also been set around the “Muhoozi project”, a subject that was mentioned in a TV debate by Presidential aspirant, Henry Tumukunde on NBS TV. This is typical Ugandan bar talk that has previously been proven to bear no fruit.

Muhoozi has every right, whether he is a serving soldier, first son or not. He has served this country in many capacities and has been a role model to many Ugandans over that time.

He cannot therefore be discriminated on the basis of birth. He has every right to aspire for whatever he may wish to and none of us have the right to deny him, his personal wishes and opinions.

I believe that is why many of his critics have been quick to counter react. The fear of what he represents and what he can achieve may he choose to spread his wings is simply to much for them to digest. People like Bobi Wine are documented drug abusers and promoters, they have served as a bad image for an entire generation of Ugandans, yet he has been allowed to seek top leadership of the country.
