Heavy deployment of ISO, UPDF and Police reduces Criminal cases in Greater Kampala

Heavy security deployment in Kampala that started three months ago, following an increase of unknown thugs terrorizing city residents, circulating threatening leaflets, phone snatching, domestic violence, kidnapping, fake Gold Cartels and other robberies.

Fred Bamwine the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Mukono, speaking on phone to explorer news, says that cases of panga welding men, circulation of threatening leaflets were very rampant early this year and people’s property was vandalized. “Following a joint security operation in the area, this strategy has paid off, it has reduced asserting that night and day patrols are to continue in the district to ensure that the area is peaceful throughout the Christmas season.” Bamwine noted.

Crime statistics obtained by explorer news.ug reveals that crime rate in Kampala, Mukono, and Wakiso District decreased by 75%. For instance, between August and December 2018, 197 robbery suspects were arrested in Kampala arms and ammunitions recovered.

365 street phone snatchers were arrested, 21 thugs who circulate threatening leaflets were arrested, 85 panga welding men were arrested, 9 fake Gold cartels busted and suspects arrested, and 56 kidnapping perpetrators were brought to book, among many others.

Such joint security patrols carried out during day and night on hotspots aimed at preventing or reduce violence in several Kampala suburbs have made it possible for neighbors to report suspicious activity or crimes without fear of retaliation, intensified the arrest of suspected criminals with their activities, prevention of domestic violence, they have also set up a neighborhood watch or a community patrol that has really helped city dwellers.
