The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party Secretary General, Nathan Nandala Mafabi, has said non-members lack a legal mandate to dissolve the party.

Nandala was responding to the decision of the Katonga group headed by Kizza Besigye to dissolve the original Najjanankumbi group.

According to him, any individual who is not a member of the party has no legal prerogative to dissolve the party, as alleged by the Katonga group.

“This is our party, and non-members have no legal power over it and cannot dissolve what they don’t own. Only you, the owners, can dissolve it if you want to. We should not focus on allegations of the pretenders,” Nandala said.

Nandala made the remarks while addressing the FDC National Council meeting held on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at party headquarters in Najjanankumbi.
The FDC party president, Amuriat Oboi, said that dissolving the FDC is beyond Besigye’s wildest dreams to achieve, adding that the intentions of the Katonga group are tarnishing the reputation of the FDC party.

According to Jack Sabiiti, the FDC National Party chairman, the Katonga leadership sought to hijack the FDC party’s mission under petty grievances, but the Najjanankumbi leadership is focused on the future of the party.

“These opportunists even took the party to court seeking to block our activities on flimsy, frivolous, and vexatious claims,” Sabiiti said.
The once-leading opposition political party split after Ibrahim Ssemuju Nganda, the Kira Municipality Member of Parliament, accused Nathan Nandala Mafabi Patrick Oboi Amuriate of selling the FDC to the ruling National Resistance (NRM).
