The police working with the Immigration Department at the Ministry of Internal Affairs have arrested 19 foreign nationals who were found to be staying and working in Uganda.

Simon Peter Mundeyi, the immigration spokesperson, said the suspects were arrested from Luzira Industrial Park, Kampala, on Thursday, October 17, 2024, during an impromptu operation conducted by security.

He said the suspects included Chinese, Indian, and Pakistani nationals who had illegally entered the country.

“We are currently processing their files for possible prosecution. We call upon foreign nationals working here to ensure that they have their papers put right in order not to contravene the immigration laws,” Mundeyi said.

The arrests are part of ongoing efforts to enforce immigration laws and ensure that all foreign nationals comply with legal requirements for residency and work permits.

Immigration authorities are conducting further investigations into the circumstances surrounding the illegal presence of these individuals in Uganda.
