Bishop Emeritus Ssekadde to Be Buried at Namirembe Cathedral

Bishop Emeritus Samuel Balagadde Ssekadde, the fourth Bishop of Namirembe Diocese, will be laid to rest on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at Namirembe Cathedral.

The late Bishop died on Monday at Kisubi Hospital, where he had been admitted after suffering from a short illness.

According to Rwaboni Elijah, the Communications Officer at Namirembe Cathedral, Bishop Ssekadde served as the Bishop of Namirembe from 1994 until his retirement in 2009.

He dedicated more than 50 years to the church, and during his term, he contributed greatly to the growth of spirituality and community in Uganda.

Late Ssekadde was known for motivating self-help projects of the clergy and was fully devoted to the community.

Speaker of Parliament, Anita Annet Among, expressed condolences, recognizing Ssekadde’s commitment to God and the Church. The Inter-Religious Council of Uganda also mourned his passing, praising him for his legacy of faith and leadership.
