The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA), in partnership with the Uganda Aeronautical Information Services Officers’ Association (UGAISOA), is set to host the 2024 Aviation Run.

The event is scheduled for Sunday, October 20, 2024, and will take place in Entebbe, with the Mayor’s Gardens serving as both the starting and finishing point. The registration fee for the run is UGX 25,000, and the participants will set off at 6:30 am.

The Aviation Run is one of the events organized by the UCAA to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), with the theme “Safe Skies, Sustainable Future.” The aviation run has been held for the past 5 years.

Vianney Luggya, the Spokesperson of the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority said that the funds realized from the event will be channeled towards supporting girl children.

He said that proceeds from the run will go towards supporting girls in Namayingo and Budondo in Jinja City by providing access to menstrual health education and materials for sanitary protection.

“We are devoted to supporting young girls in Namayingo and Budondo by equipping them with the necessary resources and knowledge to improve menstrual health,” said Vianney.

Vianney said that as a body they are connecting aviation safety and sustainability.

“We are also connecting aviation safety and sustainability with the broader idea of social responsibility,” he said.

We therefore invite everyone to take part and make a positive impact, he added.
