In the book of Luke 6:39, the Lord says, “He also told them this parable: “Can the blind lead the blind? Will they not both fall into a pit?”
As we draw closer to the 2026 elections, opposition politicians have started their usual stunts of playing on the minds of their supporters to seek sympathy.
They include Robert Kyagulanyi, the leader of the National Unity Platform, NUP, and Col. (Rtd) Dr. Kizza Besigye, who have consistently duped their few supporters with the famous false hope of removing President Museveni just in a short time.
Some of the misled youth have been involved in violent protests and unlawful actions that have made them lose their lives, and others end up in jail.
Violent protests, violation of lawful orders, illegal assemblies, deception, hate speeches, propaganda, and inciting their supporters against first families are some of the notable strategies used by the politicians to hoodwink their supporters, but they have yielded nothing for the last over 20 years of active opposition against the NRM.
After applying cheap stunts and recycling unproductive political tricks, these leaders will always lose elections and claim they have been rigged.
Nobody steals what does not exist; these opposition politicians are bad losers who should understand that the competition amongst themselves makes them share the little available opposition votes, hence giving the ruling NRM big numbers enough to give a win.
All the recent elections held have indicated that these opposition politicians do not apply new ideas but rather repeat the same mistakes that have been making them fail.
The 2026 elections shall instead be unique and most likely increase the NRM’s winning percentage because the opposition is more divided and fighting each other more than ever before.
The selfishness and individualism in the opposition, coupled with financial and positional greed, have increasingly damaged the opposition beyond repair. Ugandans no longer have hopes in opposition politicians since they have been exposed to be more dangerous than what they oppose.
It is politically impossible for Kizza Besigye and Bobi Wine to remove NRM. Their methods of work are looked at as a means to attract international funding for personal spending rather than building strong democratic parties.
They have proved to be more undemocratic and therefore have no moral authority to comment on how NRM runs the affairs of the country. NRM has proved to be more ideologically grounded than these opposition political parties that are intended to make only the founders rich.
The same strategic mistakes being recycled and reapplied every election period since 2001 cannot bring different results from what has been happening in the previous elections.
Uganda has hopeless and selfish opposition politicians. They are repeating the same mistakes as they wait for 2026 to play around that they have been rigged; it is a must-lose for them.
