“The operations that were carried out with the help of community leaders in the affected areas aimed at restoring sanity in the city,” Angucia said.

Angucia further said that the police managed to recover exhibits such as tools used for cutting and breaking into homes, among others.

She emphasized that the suspects who are currently detained at Arua Central Police Station will be brought before the court to face appropriate charges, and that similar operations are expected to continue.

Angucia noted that the operation was aimed at cleaning Arua city of notorious maniac criminals exacerbating insecurity through thefts, robberies, breakings, burglaries, and other offenses.

Over the past months, robberies, burglaries, house break-ins, theft, and people being way-laid on the streets during night hours had become common in Arua city despite previous intervention by the security operatives.

Lately, Arua city residents have been taking matters in their own hands to murder theft suspects following hike in cases in the inner and outer ring of the city.
