Former Moroto Municipality MP Aleper Dies in Car Accident

Former Moroto Municipality Member of Parliament, Simon Peter Aleper, has died in a fatal motor accident that occurred on Tuesday morning, July 23rd, 2024.

The incident reportedly occurred along Mbale-Tirinyi Road when a vehicle he was traveling in got involved in the fatal accident.

Anita Annet Among, the Speaker of Parliament, expressed her heartfelt condolences on her official Twitter handle.

“I would like to express my heartfelt condolences to His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the family of the late Hon. Simon Peter Aleper, the NRM fraternity, and the Karamoja sub-region on his tragic passing. May the Lord bring comfort to everyone during this difficult time, and may the soul of the departed rest in eternal peace,”said Among.

Aleper, also the regional NRM vice chairman for the Karamoja region, served in the 9th Parliament from 2011 to 2016.

In 2016, after failing to obtain the NRM flag, he contested as an independent but lost to Fred Angella.
