Uganda Airlines has launched three new routes, connecting Abuja, Lusaka, and Harare, to its growing network in a strategic move to strengthen its regional presence.

Jennifer Bamuturaki, the Chief Executive Officer of Uganda Airlines, said the airline will begin services to Abuja on the 12th of September, followed by Lusaka and Harare on the 25th of September, 2024.

The new routes bring the total number of destinations served by Uganda Airlines, to 16.

Addressing the media at the Airlines Headquarters in Kampala on July 17, 2024, Bamuturaki said the development comes as they celebrate 5 years, since starting the operations in August 2019.

“The entry into these markets is meant to build an efficient and optimized regional market, which will feed and finance a more profitable long-term market for Uganda Airlines,” Bamuturaki said.

“So our whole point of launching some of these routes is to improve our utilization. An airline makes money when the aircraft is in the air,” she added.

The new routes are expected to strengthen Uganda Airlines’ position in the regional aviation market, providing travelers with more connectivity options and enhancing the airline’s overall competitiveness.

This strategic expansion aligns with the airline’s vision to become a leading regional carrier, serving the growing demand for air travel in East and Central Africa.
