Seven Senior Police Officers Accused alongside Kale Kayihura Freed at last

Charges against seven senior police officers previously accused alongside former police chief Rtd. Gen Kale Kayihura have been dropped on March 5th, 2024. The charges included aiding and abetting the kidnap of Rwandan refugees and failing to protect war materials.

The freed officers include the former Director of Crime Inteligence Col Ndahura Atwooki, ACP Herbert Muhangi, SSP Nixon Agasirwe, Richard Ndaboine, Patrick Muramira, Jonas Ayebaza a former PA to Kayihura and Muyomba Kitagenda.

According to Col Ndahura Atwooki while speaking to journalists at the Makindye court martial this afternoon, he thanked President Museveni for serving them justice at last. They had been in court since August 2018.

“It has been an experience, it has been time to reflect on and I thank the commander in chief as an icon of justice and justice is served at last. You know it has been very serious and it’s a matter for Gen.Kulaigye to talk better since I am a serving officer, “Ndahura Stated.

Col. Ndahura also appreciated his wife for standing with him through thick and thin and calling her a hero.

“However you know it has been Uganda verses Col.Ndahura if you don’t know so it is that serious so heavy for sometimes you need to talk about. I want to thank my dear wife, because this woman is a hero who looked into the face of Uganda and said I want him What a hero?”  He highlighted.

Former Inspector General of Police Gen Edward Kale Kayihura was arrested on June 13th from his home in Lyantonde and was detained at the Makindye Military Barracks, on August 24, 2018. The UPDF military leadership dropped charges against him last year in August.
