Dr. Joyce Moriku Kaducu, Minister of State for Education and Sports, addressed Ugandan students with a message of encouragement and resilience during the 2023 Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) results release ceremony. With over 340,000 students receiving their results on February 15th, 2024, the Minister acknowledged the potential for disappointment and urged students to prioritise their well-being.

Addressing a concerning trend, Minister Kaducu delivered a crucial message aimed at preventing self-harm.

“I am appealing to you not to hurt yourself or end your precious God-given life,” she stated firmly, offering assurance and emphasising the importance of seeking support and navigating challenges constructively.

Minister Kaducu emphasised the importance of celebrating individual achievements, regardless of the specific outcome.

“Our dear candidates, celebrate whatever you have obtained,” she declared, reminding students that their journey holds many successes beyond exam scores.

Recognising the emotional weight of exams, the minister delivered a powerful message of hope for the future. “You still have a promising future,” she asserted, highlighting the vast possibilities beyond academic results.

The Uganda Examination Board (UNEB) plans to administer a one-time transitional examination set of exams to candidates who failed the previous Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examination, as they will be unable to repeat exams under the new curriculum beginning in 2024.
