Uganda National Road Authority (UNRA), through Egis, the contractor on the Kampala-Entebbe Expressway, has collected a total of UGX 75 billion since tolling commencement on January 8, 2022.

This was confirmed by Kampala Entebbe Expressway on their post on X on Thursday, December 28, 2023.

Motorists on the Expressway pay between Shs5,000 and Shs18,000, depending on the size of their vehicle.

“Today, Egis, the contractor on Kampala-Entebbe Expressway, has collected seventy-five billion Ugandan shillings (UGX 75 B) on behalf of @UNRA_UG since tolling commencement on January 8, 2022,” reads the post.

“All tolling revenue is collected and immediately passed to the UNRA account, which directly credits the consolidated account of Uganda. Egis is paid separately by UNRA to operate and maintain the Kampala Entebbe Expressway,” they added.

They appreciated Ugandans for utilizing the expressway.

“We appreciate the people of Uganda, particularly the road users who have utilized the Expressway. Their support and dedication to this modern transport network reflect their commitment to the progress and development of the nation,” the contractor said.

The Kampala-Entebbe-Entebbeway is the country’s first tolled road. On May 24, 2021, UNRA handed over the expressway to Egis Road Operation to operate and maintain it.
