Nation Media Group of Africa has appointed Susan Nsibirwa as the new Managing Director, Monitor Publications Limited (MPL), effective January 2, 2024, replacing the outgoing MD, Tony Glencross, who will be leaving the company on December 22, 2023.

In a statement released on December 19, 2023, by Stephen Gitagama, the group Chief Executive Officer, Nsibirwa, will be in charge of the leading MPL, The East African and Africa Broadcasting (U) Limited (the broadcasting company that operates NTV and Spark TV).

“Susan will be required to deliver a long-term strategy, business plans, and annual performance targets to maximise value for shareholders,” said Gitagama.

He noted that Nsibirwa, who has been working with Ayiva Consulting Solutions as an MD, is a specialist in marketing and communications with over 25 years of experience; 15 of these years were in senior executive roles, successfully leading marketing and communications teams and departments across diverse industries.

Gitagama stated that Timothy Ntale, the Company Secretary and Head of Legal, will serve as acting MD from December 23, 2023, until Nsibirwa assumes office in January 2024.

Nsibirwa takes over the running of the MPL at a time when the media industry is struggling to survive in a turbulent economy characterised by low copy sales and shrinking advertising revenue.
