Uganda Police Disposes of 56 kg of Illegal Drugs Worth 3 Billion Uganda Shillings in Crackdown

Uganda Police announced the disposal of 56 kg of illegal substances valued at 3 billion Uganda shillings. Conducted on November 10, at the Nsambya Police clinic, the destruction process involved burning various narcotics, including 6 kg of heroin, 6 kg of cocaine, and 7 kg of methamphetamine.

According to the Police statement, the confiscated substances were seized at Entebbe International Airport between 2020 and 2023. Following extensive investigations, authorities successfully convicted those responsible for the illicit activities.

During the disposal procedure, Chief Magistrate Stella Marisi Amabilisi from Entebbe Grade One Court along with senior members of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), aviation police, and specially trained canines, were present to ensure the proper execution of the operation.

This crackdown on drug trafficking demonstrates the Uganda Police’s commitment to curbing the illegal drug trade, safeguarding public safety, and upholding the rule of law.
