The territorial police in Mubende District have a suspect in custody linked to the Kilwanyi murder case that took place on July 31, 2023.
In a police statement released on August 6, 2023, by SP Racheal Kawala, Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Wamala region, Police has identified the suspect as Tumusiime Benjamin, who was arrested from Watuba town, Wakiso. He is a key suspect in a murder case that took place in Kilwanyi village, Kilwanyi parish, Kiruma Sub County, Mubende district.
Kawala added that the arrest of Tumusiime is a result of the attack and murder of a couple ( Abudalah Kayezi, his wife Milly Naava Namutebi) and their sons (Muzafaru SSekamate and Ibrahim Kaluma), who escaped with severe injuries.
“The unfortunate incident occurred while the family was leaving the home of the suspect, over land wrangles, they were attacked by a group of about 30 people under the leadership of Tumusiime, hacking the husband and wife to death, while the sons escaped with serious injuries,” Kawala said.
The police said the suspect was successfully apprehended by a joint task team consisting of CID and Crime Intelligence; he is currently in custody at Mubende CPS, and so far, a total of six suspects have been arrested in connection to this murder case, while further inquiries are ongoing.
