34 Arrested in CBD over Criminal Activity

According to a press release issued on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, the territorial Police at Central Police Station Kampala detained 34 people accused of being members of criminal gangs.

According to ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Police Spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan, the 34 individuals are suspected of being members of criminal gangs operating in the central business district (CBD).

“The territorial Police at Central Police Station Kampala conducted a successful operation today, July 25th, 2023, resulting in the arrest of 34 individuals suspected of being members of criminal gangs operating in the Central Business District,” stated Owoyesigyire.

He stated that the gangs were involved in a variety of criminal actions, including the destruction of parked and moving automobiles, phone snatching, and pickpocketing, among others.

Owoyesigyire stated that the suspects are currently being held at the Central Police Station in Kampala, where investigations are being conducted.

However, according to Owoyesigyire, the operation is still ongoing, and the public will be kept up-to-date on any new developments.
