A 3-month-old infant boy who had allegedly been abducted from his parents’ home has been found by the territorial police in Mubende.

According to SP Kawala Racheal, the Spokesperson for the Wamala Region Police, the tragedy happened on Sunday, July 23, 2023, at about 10:30 a.m., when the victim’s mother, Nakityo Rose, briefly left her child alone in the house so she could go gather water from the stream. However, on returning, she noticed that her child was missing.

She immediately contacted her husband, who had gone to work, and together they searched for their child, all in vain.

“Upon receiving the information, our task team initiated a search for the missing child. All the surrounding houses were thoroughly searched, but there was no sign of the baby. However, children who were playing nearby said they had earlier seen an identified person carrying a child while wearing a cap,” Kawala said.

SP Kawala said that a team of officers traced the same route and discovered the child abandoned in the bushes near Nakatogo Vadesi’s shrine, approximately 200 metres away.

“As part of our ongoing investigation, we have apprehended four suspects to assist in the case, and our efforts to identify and apprehend any additional suspects continue,” she added.

She also urged parents and guardians to be vigilant, refrain from leaving their children unattended, and assure the public that anyone caught in the act of kidnapping will be severely punished.

The victim is the son of Magezi Aaron and Nakityo Rose, residents of Kikona Cell, Kirungi Ward, South Division, Mubende Municipality, Mubende District.
