President Yoweri Museveni has ordered for the establishment of industrial parks in Oyam and Nwoya districts.

It is believed that once the industries are set up, the Residents in these districts hope to benefit in form of market for local produce and employment opportunities for residents from these industries.

The construction of these industrial parks in the area will accelerate infrastructural development in form of roads, electricity and so much more needed to support their operations.

The Land, Housing and Urban Development Minister, Betty Amongi, says they have written instructions from the president to expedite the acquisition of land for the proposed industrial parks.

According to government plans, the proposed industrial parks will be powered by the newly constructed Karuma Hydro Power dam.

The Minister revealed that her Ministry is liaising with Oyam District local government to search for the land to be aquired especially within Kamdini Sub County, approximately about 15km from Karuma Hydro Power dam.

Although Amongi didn’t disclose the time frame for implementation of the presidential directive, she noted that the President wants the proposed industrial park projects implemented immediately.
