🇺🇬 Three abducted students of Lhubiriha SSS find their way back
📌Three students of Lhubiriha Secondary School in Kasese District who were abducted on Friday night by the Allied Democratic Force rebels have returned after escaping from the attackers. Brig. Felix Kulayigye, the UPDF Spokesperson, confirmed this on Tuesday, June 20, 2023, during an exclusive interview with Journalists. Brig Kulaigye said a total of six students were abducted during the attack by the rebels. He said this now brings the total number of students still with the rebels to three and that the pursuit is still ongoing. President Museveni ordered the immediate deployment of new soldiers to the Rwenzori region to intensify the fight against ADF rebels.

🇺🇬 Justice Minister assures State prosecutors of security and improved welfare 
📌The Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs Norbert Mao has assured State prosecutors that Government is ready to provide them protection against criminals in persuit of their constitutional duties. Minister Mao was  presiding over  an event at Kololo ceremonial grounds on Tuesday where 42 vehicles were given to prosecutors working in hard to reach areas to help them carry out their work.
“I am assuring you that Government will give you security and  protection against all those wrong elements in public who would like to harm you while carry out your work. I have heard impostors claiming that they are from State House that they are following up compensations and other cases, we shall also protect you against such fraudsters,” Mao said.

🇺🇬 NSSF, UBTS launch blood donation drive for rare blood types
📌The Uganda Blood Transfusion Services (UBTS), together with the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) have kicked off a blood donation drive to collect over 3,000 units of rare blood types currently in high demand in hospitals. Ambrose Mugume, the senior blood donor recruiter at UBTS on Monday revealed that there is a rise in demand for rhesus-negative blood types. A negative and AB-negative blood are two examples of rhesus-negative blood, among others however they recently announced that it is no longer possible to have anything in the refrigerator reserved for emergencies like accidents.

🇺🇬 Police urges public to be alert as child trafficking crimes increase
📌Police has warned the public to be cautious in the wake of rampant child trafficking. Derrick Basalirwa Kigenyi, an officer at the Immigration section of the Uganda Police on Monday urged the public to be mindful of their children because the cases of kidnapping and child trafficking are on the rise again. He said the cases have been rampant in the districts of Masaka, Lyantonde, and Lwengo in the central region. He pinned a one Brian Ssemanda Wasswa, a resident of Kizungu zone in Kampala city, has been arrested on the accounts of trafficking and sexual assault of four girls between the ages of 15 and 17 who were promised jobs as bar attendants only to be trafficked for sexual purposes. Proscovia Nakanjako, a 48-year-old lawyer, has also been linked to Ssemanda in child trafficking, according to Basalirwa.

🇺🇬 MUBENDE: Panic as two succumb to strange disease
📌Two residents living in the same household in Kwezikume village, Kigando sub-county, Kasambya Municipality in Mubende District have died of an unknown disease. Reports say one of the deceased persons had Ebola-like symptoms of vomiting, diarrhea, and fever. This has caused fear among the residents who have appealed to the Government through the Ministry of Health to intervene.

🇺🇬 NAPAK: Army leadership commences  communal meetings to ensure peace
📌The UPDF 3rd Division in Karamoja together and the Police have embarked on community engagements as one of the mechanisms to fight cattle rustling and to ensure peaceful disarmament in the sub-region. During the first engagement held in Lokopo Sub-county, Napak District, the 3rd Division army commander, Maj. Gen Don Nabasa, who replaced Brig Gen Joseph Balikudembe said the residents’ willingness to attend the event was the first symbol of success. Francis Chemusto, the Mt Moroto regional police commander requested for timely reports so as to enable them act first and encouraged them to always attend meetings when called upon.

🇺🇬 BUYENDE: Centenary Bank boosts PDM project
📌The Centenary Bank in Kamuli has boosted the Parish Development Model (PDM) programme in Buyende and Kamuli districts with new computers for safe record keeping and tracking of beneficiaries. It also called for promotion of saving, financial discipline and literacy culture. Buyende District has 73 PDM SACCOS which have so far received Shs3.1b, while Kamuli District has 80 PDM SACCOS (Shs3. 9b). Handing over the computers to Chief Administrative Officers and PDM Focal Point officers at Buyende, Martin Seguya Mulindwa, the manager High Net worth, encouraged the PDM beneficiaries to grow their capital, have a business mind and ensure that they take on saving as culture.

🇺🇬 ALEBTONG: District cautioned against underutilizing Government funds
📌Leaders of Alebtong District have been cautioned against failure to utilize funds released by the Government to accomplish different projects and end up returning it to the Treasury. Denis Hamson Obua, the Government Chip Whip, sounded the warning, saying they had sunk billions of shillings in the district this financial year, which has not been fully absorbed. He made the remarks during the closure of a community sensitization meeting organized by the Equal Opportunities Commissions at the district headquarters. The training targeted LC3 chairpersons, Parish chiefs, people with disabilities, community development officers and sub-county chiefs, among others.

🇺🇬 KAKUMIRO: Machete-wielding assailants hack one to death
📌 Police in Kakumiro District are in pursuit of machete wielding assailants who raided a church and hacked one member to death and left scores injured. The late has been identified as Lias Mugume, a teacher at Benitah High School in Katikara town. Sunday William the secretary for security and community affairs in the district confirmed the incident.

🌍 SUDAN: New killings reported in Darfur on second day of ceasefire
📌The paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and affiliated militias have reportedly started killing people and attacking villages in Darfur in violation of a  truce in Sudan, according to civil society organizations. Attacks that happened over the weekend in North Darfur have been reported by at least four civil society organizations and activists.

🌍 43 Al-Shabab fighters killed in airstrike in Somalia
📌The Somali Government has reported  that during a weekend airstrike near the Jamame District in the Lower Juba region, the Somali National Army forces killed 43 al-Shabab extremists, including two top commanders. According to the Somali National News Agency (SONNA), Aden Abdirahman Aden, a major al-Shabab leader, and Idris Abdirahim Nur, a Kenyan national, were both killed in the airstrike, along with 43 other al-Shabab members.
