Akol won with 79692 votes on a declaration form signed by Mr. Joel Mugenyi, the district returning officer, over her Independent opponent, Mr. Lokwiaki Tychicus Ebukalin, who received 4941 votes as the first runner-up.

Mr. Sam Oita Odeke of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) received 2343 votes after withdrawing from the race just hours after voting began.

“As the returning officer for the Bukedea electoral district, I declare Mary Akol, who received the most votes, the winner for the Bukedea electoral district,” Mugerwa announced.
