FUFA has today, June 12, 2023, announced the demise of former Uganda Cranes midfielder Jamil Willy Kyambadde.

The sad news of his demise came in during the morning hours of Monday at his place of residence in Kawempe division in the central region of the country.

“It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that we have learned of the passing of former Uganda Cranes player Jamil Willy Kayambade. We join the rest of the Ugandan football fraternity and beyond in conveying our heartfelt condolences to friends and family,” said FUFA through their Twitter handle.

This has come after Kyambadde announced quitting alcohol in May of this year, which had affected his life since his retirement in 2004.

It is also alleged that Kyambadde has been battling kidney and liver disease, which has kept him down since 2020.

Kyambadde started his football career at Naggalama Islamic institute under the late Sheikh Jamil Kakeeto, but he had his Super League debut at Arua Young Stars in 1994.

He, however, became prominent in 1995 when he joined Express FC and in 1996, he played for the Uganda Cranes in a 2-0 loss to Angola at Nakivubo Stadium. He joined KCCA FC in 2000 but returned to the Red Eagles after two seasons.
