The leadership of the Opposition Forum for Democratic Change party is now split into three factions, including the one loyal to the current party president, Patrick Oboi Amuriat, Party Secretary General Nandala Mafabi, and those loyal to the Katonga Road group (Besigye).

A source within FDC revealed that SG Mafabi has dropped Kaijja Harold, who is his deputy, from a smaller but key committee called Management, which is in charge of drawing activities, planning, making the agenda of the NEC and sometimes discussing sensitive issues.

It is said Kaijja was dropped after he was first removed from the party’s payroll because he was suspected of leaking secrets to the Katonga group.

Another source at Najjanankumbi revealed that Col (Rtd) Dr. Kizza Besigye has now shifted his attention from the shadows of indirectly fighting the Nandala faction and is now focused on the 27billion shillings that were received by Nandala, Patrick Amuriat, Salaamu Musumba, Geoffrey Ekanya, and others from the president during campaigns.

The source said Dr. Besigye is now aware that the said money was given to the group by the President but is now questioning the purpose of why the money was given and the accountability, which Nandala Mafabi has failed to explain. Besigye reportedly rejected about 300 million that was given to him by Nandala.

The FDC party is scheduled to hold the National Executive Committee-NEC meeting on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, but Patrick Amuriat has requested that it be pushed to Friday. However, all the NEC members that are pro-Katonga Road are very impatient.

The group is currently demanding to know why Patrick Oboi Amuriat wants the NEC postponed, and they insist the meeting should go on as planned.

The source revealed that a seven-man committee expected to be headed by MP Ssemujju Nganda will be set up during the NEC meeting in an attempt to reconcile the two warring factions.
