Arsenal’s Hope to Grab English Premier League Title Continues to Dwindle

Arsenal’s hopes of winning the English Premier League for the first time in 20 years still remain unsecured as they have lost four points in the last two games. According to football pundits, if Arsenal had won the two matches, they would be 10 points clear of the current champions, Manchester City, who have played a game less than the table leaders.

Arsenal had a 2-0 win against Liverpool last weekend and let it slip away to a 2-2 draw, and also last evening, Arsenal let a 2-0 lead slip away against a 15th-placed West Ham that later ended in a 2-2 draw after Bakayo Saka missed a penalty.

The draw has increased worries not only in the dressing room at the Emirates but also among Arsenal fans worldwide.

Arsenal, who have had a good run and have been top of the table since early December, have 74 points having played 31 games, of which they have won 23, drawn five, and lost three, giving them the best performance the team has had since they last won the Premier League trophy in the 2003-2004 season after going unbeaten all season and amassing a total of 90 points.

Arsenal, who currently top the table with only four points above Manchester City, will play Southampton before playing second-placed Man City on April 26.

With Manchester City playing Sheffield in the FA Cup Semifinals, they are likely to play Arsenal with two games in hand and 7 points behind Arsenal. The winner of the Arsenal-Man City game is likely to determine the winner of the Premier League this season, should both teams go ahead and win their remaining fixtures.

Arsenal, who have dropped out of most competitions and are only playing in the Premier League, have plenty of time to rest compared to their closest opponents, Manchester City, who are still playing in the Premier League, the UEFA Champions League semifinals, and also the FA Cup semifinals.

Football pundit and former Arsenal goalkeeper David Seaman, while talking to Sky Sports News, confessed that, with the way Arsenal is playing, they lack the morale and motivation to win games.

They play with no hunger at all; they had all week to rest, and they let a 2-0 win slip away from them the second time in two weeks. If they continue to play like that, I am afraid Manchester City will capitalize on their lack of morale and will snatch the trophy from them.
