The opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) party is reportedly in shock following the decision of Bukoto South MP Twaha Kagabo to abandon his party, Bobi Wine, for the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party.

MP Kagabo said that his decision follows several threats from the party radicals, especially those loyal to the party principal, Bobi Wine, who are threatening to take his life.

“Things have changed, and our seniors have focused on their personal interests rather than serving Ugandans. If you speak up against the irregularities within NUP’s top leadership, you become a target of threats and insults,” Kagabo stated while in an interview.

He also revealed that due to numerous threats from the NUP radicals, he decided to join the ruling government, seeking refuge and safety for his life as he continues to serve Ugandans.

According to sources, MP Kagabo is negotiating with the different NRM leaders and mobilizers to connect him with President Museveni, who’s also the chairman of the NRM party.

Recently, while in Kasambya County, MP Twaha sought the intervention of the first son, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, also the Special Presidential Advisor in Charge of Special Operations to come to his rescue.

It is reported that Bobi Wine has been at loggerheads with MP Kagabo ever since he confessed in Parliament how the NUP president had used him to falsely pin the Speaker of Parliament on the allegations by the opposition that she bribed the legislators last year to pass the supplementary budget.

The relationship between the two deteriorated when Bobi Wine, while addressing the party leaders in Bukoto South, publicly accused Kagabo of defying his orders and asked his supporters to denounce him as their representative in Parliament.

It is also said that Kagabo spearheaded and led a section of NUP legislators who defied the party directive that required each legislator to contribute UGX 10 million as maintenance fees for the president and the party at large, something that might have angered the party hierarchy.
