When reading creation stories in the book of Genesis, we learn that God created everything in the universe within the first five days and then created man (Adam) on the sixth day. On the seventh day, as God was resting, he realized Adam was lonely and needed a suitable helper and companion. Genesis 2:18 The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”
So the Lord God caused the man (Adam) to fall into a deep sleep, and while he was sleeping, God took one of the man’s ribs and then closed up the place with flesh. Then he made a woman (Eve) from the rib he had taken out of Adam, and God brought Eve to Adam as his companion.
According to the creation stories in the book of Genesis, God created all creatures as a pair of male and female, including mammals, reptiles, birds, and other small living organisms. In Genesis 1:28, God’s intention in creating each creature in a pair (male and female) was to enable procreation in order to multiply and fill the universe.
Away from the creation stories and Adam’s desire for a suitable companion, despite being created in the image of God and given authority over other creatures, including those in the sky, sea, and on land, The human race’s survival, especially in the modern era, is at risk, facing numerous threats, especially immorality, terrorism, poverty, and climate change as a result of global warming.
What is most heartbreaking is that God’s messengers on earth, especially the clergy, are championing and glorifying sin.
In recent years, both the Anglican and Catholic churches where people go to talk to God, their creator, are now used as institutions and tools to advocate for same-sex marriages and homosexual acts in the name of human rights around the world.
Pope Francis, the head of the Roman Catholic Church (faith), at the beginning of this year openly declared his support for homosexuality and asked bishops, priests, and members of the Catholic Church to welcome homosexuals with love and kindness.
In the same manner, the Church of England (Anglican Communion) in February this year passed a resolution allowing clergy to bless same-sex marriage couples and asked other Anglican provinces to embrace the new development.
Following the Ugandan Parliament’s decision to pass the Anti-homosexuality Bill 2023, which criminalizes and prohibits homosexual activities, the Archbishop of Canterbury has since threatened to write to President Museveni to consider refusing to sign the bill into law.
This is the second time that the Most Rev. Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury, has threatened to write to Museveni, asking him to promote homosexual activities in Uganda. In 2014, when Parliament passed the same law that was later repelled by the Constitutional Court, Rev. Justin Welby wrote to President Museveni to express his disappointment with the legislation against homosexuality.
Instead of writing to Museveni, the Archbishop should write to God, asking for forgiveness and repenting of his sins for deviating from God’s purpose of creating man and woman as companions.
The US and Western countries are known globally for enforcing homosexuality in other parts of the world. They are using coercion tactics by imposing sanctions and withdrawing aid to whoever rejects homosexuality practice in their countries.
