Buganda Kingdom elders and officials have refuted claims that Ssabasaja Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi ii  sired secret twins with the Queen Mother Nnaabagereka Sylvia Nagginda Luswata. The long kept secret which caught media and the general public’s attention was revealed by the Queen in her yet-to-be-released autobiography, titled “The Nnaabagereka of Buganda”.

The autobiography reveals that the royal couple was blessed with a pair of twins (girls) in December of 2010.

According to the autobiography, this was kept as a secret from the general public until of recent when it was revealed by the Queen herself.

On the 6th of December 2010, I was blessed with two more girls, Jade Catherine Nakato and Jasmine Rebecca Babyire born in Kampala. They are two amazing kids who are mostly happy and passionate about people, whom I find astonishing at their age,” autobiography states on page 205.

However, according to an official statement dated 17th March 2023,  from the Omutaka Kasujju Lubinga Abdul Migadde, the office of Omutaka MugemaNabikande and other elders responsible for the customs and norms of all children of the Kabaka are not aware of the twins claimed by the Nnaabagereka in her autobiography.

The letter also revealed that Ssabasaja has never performed any twins’ rituals as required by the norms and customs of the Kingdom an indication that the royal couple has never produced twins.

Omutaka Kasujju Lubinga also revealed that the Kingdom last received a set of royal twins produced by the Ssekabaka Daudi Chwa in 1925.
