President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has today morning arrived in Kenya’s coastal city of Mombasa for a three-day state visit on invitation of Kenyan counterpart HE Uhuru Kenyatta.
According to a statement issued Monday evening by Kenyas’ State House spokesperson Kanze Dena, had said the two leaders would proceed to State House Mombasa for bilateral talks with their respective delegations before conducting a joint press briefing.
Through a tweet on his twitter handle, President Museven noted that their main discussions will focus on how to strengthen the two Countries’ political, social and economic ties. Besides, President Museveni will first tour Mombasa Port before proceeding to State House Mombasa and Nairobi for real engagements in bilateral talks.
At the Moi International Airport in Mombasa, President Museveni, who was honoured with a 21-gun salute, received by his host President Uhuru Kenyatta, Deputy President William Ruto, Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho, Minister Sam Kutesa and Kenya’s High Commissioner Phoebe Otaala, among other officials.
It is also expected that the two leaders will also disus resolving Migingo Islands conflicts. Earlier alone, Kenya’s Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Monica Juma and her Ugandan counterpart Sam Kutesa said they already had timelines on when and how to resolve the Migingo Island matter.
The Migingo tussle has been a bone of contention between the two countries which claim ownership to the small island that houses 1000 people drawn from the two countries.
