President Museveni Commissions Over 782 Officer Cadets at Kaweweta

H.E the President of the Republic of Uganda, YK Museveni who is also the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces has today, Thursday 2nd march 2023 commissioned over 782 Officer Cadets intake 05 Short 2022/2023 at Kaweweta Recruit Training School.

The President congratulated Officer Cadets and also encouraged them to remain focused on their military career. He also thanked both the Commandant Kaweweta Recruit Training School and instructors for doing a commendable work in grooming a professional force.

He also warned Officer Cadets against corruption saying the vice would endanger their careers and also encouraged them to expose the vice and all its forces.

“I call upon you to reject and fight corruption in your career duties. You have been equipped with skills so use them to expose the enemies of our progress,” Museveni said.

H.E Museveni reminded the young officers to embrace the NRM/UPDF doctrines of Patriotism, Nationalism, Pan-Africanism and Socio-economic transformation while executing their duties.

The Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) Gen. Wilson Mbadi advised officers not to under look their colleagues especially non-commissioned officers who are already in the field but rather use them as reference while serving Ugandans.

The Minister of Defence and Veterans Affairs, Hon. Vincent Sempija who was also in attendance congratulated the Officer Cadets and requested them to ensure and promote peace and security in Uganda.

“Always ensure that you progress in your careers and don’t let down the revolution of pacifying Uganda and the entire region,” Sempija stated.

The Commandant Kaweweta Recruit Training School Brig. JB Ruhesi also encouraged the Officer Cadets to embrace the UPDF core values while executing their career duties.

“This is the beginning of the protracted journey of your military careers. I encourage you to embrace routine training during the course of this wonderful career,” Ruhesi said.

He also thanked the local communities for their cooperation, tolerance and unending support rendered to the training school over time and also promised to continue working with the local communities in the pursuit of peace and security in Uganda.


The ceremony was also attended by several dignitaries from different security agencies, government officials, local leaders, parents and guardians of the trainees and the locals within the communities of Nakaseke, Luwero and Nakasongola districts.
