🇺🇬 SDA Pastor Dr. Ted Wilson condemns homosexuality
📌 The Seventh Day Adventist World leader Dr.  Ted Wilson has condemned homosexuality citing that the Seventh Day Adventists Church believes that sexual intimacy belongs only within the marital relationship of a man and a woman.
“For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh” (Gen 2:24, NIV), noted Dr. Ted.

🇺🇬 President Museveni campaigns for NRM flag bearer in Serere 
📌 President Yoweri Museveni is in Serere canvassing for votes for the National Resistance Movement (NRM) flagbearer. Electoral Commission Returning Officer for Serere, Sylvia Cheptegei confirmed that NRM flag-bearer Philip Oucor had informed them about Tuesday’s  Presidential visit to Serere. Five candidates have vied for the Serere County MP seat which fell vacant after the death of MP Okabe who perished in a motor accident together with his wife last December.

🇺🇬 Police in Mbarara arrests businessman over  sodomizing juveniles 
📌 The territorial Police in Rwizi region in Mbarara are holding a one Saturday Michea, a businessman of Kilembe Cell in Nyamityobora for sexually grooming into sodomy and molesting two male juveniles aged 17 and 18 respectively for the last two months of January and February. The suspect has been getting young boys of around 17 and 18 years whom he employs to vend pineapples within Mbarara City during day and sodomises them at night in turns.

🇺🇬 UPDF hands over recovered cattle to owners 
📌Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) has handed over recovered animals from raiders to owners in the districts of Abim, Agago, Kitgum and Kotido. According to the Deputy Commander of the UPDF 2 Division, Brig Gen William Beinomugisha, about 2799 heads of cattle, 360 goats, and 27 donkeys were received by owners after an intense verification exercise. The handover was witnessed by area local leaders.

🇺🇬 Transport Minister threatens to terminate SBC Hoima International Airport contract  following strike
📌Over 100 workers of SBC, a company contracted to construct Hoima International Airport have laid down their tools over the Government’s failure to take care of upward changes in prices of commodities used in the construction works. This comes just four months after the handover of the project in June. With this, the State Minister for Transport, Fred Byamukama has threatened to terminate the SBC contract, stating that the move is inspired by officials conniving with mafias to inflate prices and steal from the taxpayer. Works are said to be at 90% and Uganda has paid two hundred thirty-eight 238 million euros of the total two hundred sixty-four 264 million euros for the project.

🇺🇬 Man pleads guilty over role in Nagirinya murder 
📌 Isaac Ssenabulya, one of the suspects in the murder of Maria Nagirinya, a former employee of Community Integrated Development Initiative on Monday pleaded guilty to murder charges during the trial at the High Court in Kampala. Ssenabulya, alias Kisunsu’s plea came after  State prosecutors, Jonathan Muwaganya and Timothy Emerit presented evidence pinning him to the murder.

🇺🇬 Parliament  wants Judiciary to rule on trial of civilians in Military courts 
📌The Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Committee has asked the Judiciary to make its final pronouncement on the trial of civilians in the Court-Martial, following different judgments made by both the Supreme and Constitutional courts over the same subject. The call was made by West Budama North East MP, Fox Odoi while interfacing with officials from the Judiciary, who had appeared to present their views on the Law Revision (Miscellaneous Amendments) Bill, 2022.

📌 The Inspector General of Police(IGP), Okoth Ochola will Wednesday 22nd February 2023 launch the Annual Crime Report 2022 at Police headquarters Naguru in Kampala. According to the spokesperson of Police Fred Enanga, the annual crime report will help to understand and analyze the emerging crime trends both nationally and locally, with statistical data to analyze and help in shaping interventions to curb crime.

📌 The Minister for Lands and Urban Development Hon. Judith Nabakooba has urged journalists to embrace government development programs such as PDM. she was attending Adventist Media Association (AMA) meeting at Pennial beach in Entebbe. Nabakooba said that through forming SACCOs, journalists will easily access funds to support their projects in commercial farming, small business and many others businesses of their choice.

🇺🇬 TORORO: Minister Oboth urges local chairpersons to shun corruption 
📌 The State Minister for Defense and Veteran Affairs, Hon. Jacob Oboth has urged national local council chairpersons to desist from being corrupt because they represent Uganda and are the eyes of Ugandans. Oboth directed the chief administrative officers and LC V Chairpersons to work as a team for better service delivery in the district.

📌 While touring Bugisu region, the Enterprise Development Specialist of PDM Secretariat in the Ministry of Local Government, Ms. Irene Muwanguzi said that PDM money will reach beneficiaries by February 28, 2023 to enable farmers to prepare earlier.
“This is the season when this money needs to be out, soon we are receiving rains and for those who are going to invest into agricultural enterprises, this money can be properly put in good use,” Muwanguzi said.

🌍 UNESCO urges Mother Language Education Implementation 
📌 On the International Mother Language Day celebrated on 21st February, UNESCO has called on countries to pursue a policy of multilingual education. UNESCO Director-General, Audrey Azoulay advised that children are taught in their mother tongue during the earliest years of their schooling, which can be combined with the official language of instruction, an approach known as multilingual education.

📌President William Ruto has questioned the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank on what he terms as an unfair allocation of funds in the war on combating climate change. Reiterating his call for reforms in the fund allocation framework, President Ruto cried foul that the international financial system is favoring polluters and punishing the least emitting nations.

🌍 NIGERIA: Suspected rebels kill 8 Police officers ahead of Polls 
📌At least eight Nigerian Police Officers have been killed in separate attacks by suspected rebels in the country’s southeast just days ahead of presidential elections. Local police spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga on Monday blamed the attacks on a rebel group known as the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), which is fighting for the independence of the ethnic Igbo people in southeast Nigeria.

🌍 UN official accuses Wagner Group, armed forces of rights abuses in CAR 
📌An independent UN human rights expert has accused the Central African Republic’s armed forces and their Russian allies from the Wagner Group of multiple rights abuses. After a 10-day visit to the CAR, Yao Agbetse, called on the Government to investigate allegations of summary executions and disappearances levelled against the Russian mercenaries, particularly in Mambéré-Kadéï prefecture.

📌Twelve Anglican Church leaders have announced they no longer consider the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, to be the leader of the global communion after his decision to allow blessings for gay partnerships. The leaders, who say they represent 75% of Anglicans worldwide, accused the Church of England of having taken “the path of false teaching”, and going against “historical biblical faith.”

🌍 Fresh earthquake hits Turkey-Syria Border 
📌Six people were killed in an earthquake which struck the border region of Turkey and Syria, two weeks after a larger quake killed more than 47,000 people and destroyed hundreds of thousands of homes. The Monday’s quake, this time with a magnitude of 6.4, was centred near the southern Turkish city of Antakya and was felt in Syria, Egypt and Lebanon.
