The Leader of Opposition in Parliament (LOP), Mathias Mpuuga Nsamba, has condemned the unruly behavior among supporters of the National Unity Platform (NUP) party, whom he termed intolerant toward those with divergent views.

“I strongly condemn the indiscipline exhibited by some of us in opposition to our witch-hunt colleagues who disagree with our views. This is very dangerous and undermines our efforts to cause regime change in this country,” Mpuuga said.

Mpuuga said this on Sunday, March 19, 2023, while addressing a public gathering at a funeral cremations function in Karungu district.

According to Mpuuga, the indiscipline of opposition supporters and some leaders denies Ugandans a chance of having a better alternative government.

He said that the current political intolerance exhibited by some opposition politicians is very dangerous and therefore threatens the ideals of democracy in Uganda.

Mpuuga, however, challenged fellow opposition leaders and politicians to practice what they preach, urging them to focus on service delivery but not personal fights.

He stated that the opposition must demonstrate to Ugandans how they want Uganda to look by implementing alternative policies and providing basic services to the people.
