The deputy speaker of parliament Thomas Tayebwa, has directed the Parliamentary committee on Education and Sports to probe the allegation of sexual violence and homosexuality in schools. The directive was issued yesterday 24th January during the plenary seating.

Tayebwa directed the committee to give urgent priority and tackle the matter head on without fearing anyone. This follows reports of similar crimes reported at Kings College Buddo.

According to Tayebwa, he has received very painful testimonies from victims of homosexuality in schools.

“I am getting painful stories about homosexuality and many people are dying in silence. It seems our schools have been infiltrated and recruitment centres are open. It’s extremely sad. Our children have been grabbed and sodomized. We must tackle this issue head-on without fear,” he stated.

He explained that he talked to one student personally and he told he that in one of their schools, you cannot move around in the compound at night because you fear to be grabbed and sodomized.

Tayebwa added that if the matter isn’t dealt with urgently, the next generation will be destroyed.

“The moment you finish our children, then we no longer have anything and We hope the response from the Education Committee can be quick and we see how best to work, do whatever we can to ensure that we save humanity and our country,” he added.

According to Tayebwa, doctors have testified that the victims of sodomy are dying due to the rise of homosexuality in schools.

According to the Penal Code, “carnal knowledge against the order of nature” between two males carries a potential penalty of life imprisonment.
