Bigirwa Moses has dismissed statements by the National Unity Platform (NUP)  party’s Secretary General David Lewis Rubongoya attributing his suspension to in-fights and divisions within party leaders in charge of Busoga sub-region.

The embattled People power and Bobi Wine’s diehard supporter who lost the Kamuli Municipality Member of Parliament seat in the 2021 elections has attributed his suspension from the party to sectarianism and segregation practiced by the party’s top management and denies allegations of causing in-fights.

“There is a lot of sectarianism and segregation in NUP and what hurts me is that the top leadership is behind the vice. In the party people are not treated the same way and priority is given according to how close you’re to the top leadership,” Bigirwa stated.

He claims that his relationship with the party leadership started to fade last year when he raised an alarm calling up the NUP hierarchy to address sectarianism allegations at the party secretariat based in Kamwokya.

Bigirwa revealed that NUP supporters from Buganda region are treated differently and given first priority something different when it comes to other party supporters from the different regions of Uganda.

He cited the party’s involvement and support for Joel Ssenyonyi, Francis Zaake and Nubian Li when they had wedding ceremonies and this wasn’t the case late last year during his wedding ceremony preparations.

Bigirwa claims that unlike him who’s a Musoga, the former were supported by the party leadership because they are Baganda and are close friends to the Principal Bobi Wine.

“They chose to ignore my requests for support because I wasn’t part of their inner circle, and when I chose to speak up, I was side-lined and now suspended,” Bigirwa stated.

He was suspended on Thursday January 12th 2023 together with other four NUP leaders in charge of Busoga sub-region.

Bigirwa has vowed to expose what he termed as hypocrisy and corruption within NUP top management.
